NEC

The NEC has the following tasks:

• administration of Europass documents 
• promotion of and provision of information about Europass 
• setup and management of the necessary information system 
• networking at European level.
  

In the Netherlands, the activities and tasks relating to the Europass are divided across nine bodies who together make up a strong consortium in the education and labour market. Within this consortium, the Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs (DUO) has been appointed the National Europass Centre. The other bodies in the NEC are:

The MBO Raad is the national organisation representing educational institutions in secondary-level vocational education (MBO) and adult education. The MBO Raad promotes the collective interests of the educational institutions in the MBO sector.

The labour market and vocational education and training constitute the foundation for the Co-operation Vocational Education, Training and the Labour Market (SBB). They work together on themes such as the VET qualifications structure, examination, work placement and the offer of training programs. With that, SBB optimizes the connection between education and the labour market, the goal of which is: delivering sufficient and well-qualified professionals. 

UWV WERKbedrijf specialises in matching supply and demand in the labour market. UWV WERKbedrijf puts employers in touch with job seekers. Employers can contact UWV WERKbedrijf for recruitment and selection of staff and for information about the labour market. Job seekers can contact UWV WERKbedrijf to search for and find work and to request payment of unemployment benefit or a welfare payment. UWV WERKbedrijf works closely with its partners in the work and income chain: the Employee insurances Implementing Agency (UWV) and the communities. UWV WERKbedrijf also performs the assessment for the Act on Social Job Creation, issues UWV WERKbedrijf release permits and employment permits and provides information on the labour market and employment law.

The European Platform allows apprentices to look across borders. As the centre for the internationalisation of education in the Netherlands, the platform enables them to discover Europe and the world beyond. For teachers, international experience offers inspiration and motivation at work.
The Platform puts teachers and apprentices in contact with colleagues and fellow apprentices in other countries in various ways. We (co-)finance exchanges for apprentices, students and teachers. We also support joint projects, study visits, (continuing) education and bilingual training. We also produce educational materials on internationalisation and advise schools on the subject.
The European Platform is geared to basic education, further education and teacher training. It also considers the internationalisation of vocational and adult education via the European Lifelong Learning programme.
The Platform runs educational programmes on behalf of the European Commission and the Dutch Ministry of Education.

The HBO-raad is the interest group and employers' association for the Dutch universities that fund it. The HBO-raad, the association of universities, is the leading platform for universities to work together. It makes every effort to strengthen the position of the universities and maintains a wide network to this end.

The Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs (DUO), as an independent governing body, implements complex legislation and regulations for organisations in the public domain (including the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and the Ministry of Justice). Its main tasks are: data management, provision of information, funding, organisation of examinations and the recognition and legalisation of diplomas.

The Leonardo da Vinci National Agency is a European action programme that promotes modernisation, innovation and quality improvement in vocational education through transnational co-operation.

The Nuffic is the Dutch organisation for international co-operation in higher education. The organisation has various fields of activity: development co-operation, internationalisation, diploma evaluation and the promotion and positioning of Dutch education abroad. It has also set itself the goal of increasing the opportunities that education with an international orientation offers to students, researchers and providers of higher education and training throughout the world, in both the public and private domain.

The main task of the VSNU, association of universities, is to strengthen the social position of academic education and research.
