For employers
The European Commission devised the Europass to simplify and promote labour mobility in Europe. It assumes that more mobility among the working population will aid economic and social development, a high level of employment and balanced and sustainable growth. Greater mobility will allow the European economy, labour market and working population to react more flexibly and efficiently to the changing and increasingly globalised economy, which is characterised by strong competition.
A National Europass Centre (NEC) co-ordinates the Europass activities in all participating countries. NEC Netherlands is a consortium of nine organisations working together: MBO-Raad, Colo, CWI, HBO-raad, IB- Groep, Leonardo da Vinci, Nuffic, European Platform and VSNU.
- If you ask for a Europass CV when you advertise vacancies, you can be sure of receiving clear and relevant information about applicants' skills and competences. This will cost you no extra time or money: Europass is freely available to applicants and they complete it themselves.
- The uniform format of the Europass CV makes it simpler to compare and assess candidates’ qualifications and skills which saves you time in the selection procedure.
- Europass is recognisable for employers throughout Europe and is available in all European languages, thereby helping break down language barriers
- Europass is an aid to increasing international knowledge and experience
- If you need more extensive information about applicants, you can also ask for one or more of the other Europass documents. The Language Passport contains a self-assessment of language knowledge, Europass Mobility provides information about work placements and study abroad. The Certificate Supplement and Diploma Supplement provide more information about qualifications obtained in vocational and higher education respectively. These two documents are published by the responsible organisations (educational institutions, Colo). More information is available in the separate descriptions of the documents.
