For employers
The Certificate Supplement is one of the documents related to the Europass. It is a European format that gives a general description of national qualifications at MBO (secondary vocational) level. The purpose of the Certificate Supplement is to give an insight into the content of the course taken and to make it clear what someone is trained to do.
Job seekers can download a Certificate Supplement and add it to their (Europass) CV as an appendix. The Certificate Supplement can be identified by the Europass logo and a small flag of the country in which the course was taken. The Certificate Supplement contains the following information (see also the sample Certificate Supplement on this web site):
• certificate name stating the qualification obtained
• status of the qualification stating that the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science has recognised the training
• position of the qualification in the Dutch educational structure, specifying which educational pathway within secondary-level vocational education the applicant has followed
• level of the qualification
• a summary of the skills acquired
• a summary of the occupations and/or fields of work to which the course is geared
• information on the duration and scope of the course
• address of Colo and the relevant vocational education and business knowledge centre.
If you have any questions about an applicant’s Certificate Supplement, you can always contact the National Reference Point Netherlands or the Reference Point of the country in which the Certificate Supplement was issued.
