For certificate holders
If you want to work or study in another European country with your secondary-level vocational certificate, the Certificate Supplement is a useful document to show your future employer your education.
A Certificate Supplement is a general description in English or Dutch of the content of the training taken. This information gives employers or educational institutions a good idea of the courses you have taken and what you are trained to do.
The Certificate Supplement contains the following information (see also the sample Certificate Supplement on this web site):
• certificate name stating the qualification obtained
• status of the qualification stating that the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science has recognised the training
• position of the qualification in the Dutch educational structure, specifying which educational pathway within secondary-level vocational education you have followed
• level of the qualification
• a summary of the skills acquired
• a summary of the occupations and/or fields of work to which the course is geared
• information on the duration and scope of the course
• address of Colo and the relevant vocational education and business knowledge centre.
The Certificate Supplement is issued by the National Reference Point Netherlands and is free to download. At present a hundred courses are described in the current qualification structure. Contact the National reference Point if the course you took is not listed. There is also a paid service for qualifications that fall outside the current qualifications structure, for instance. For more information on this see www.nlnrp.nl.
